New Delhi: Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (SJVN) has announced the re-appointment of Dr. Udeeta Tyagi as an Independent Director on its Board, following a directive from the Ministry of Power. Her new term is effective from April 17, 2025, for a period of one year or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Ms Tyagi was born in a family of educators’ in the Garhmukteshwar district of Uttar Pradesh. Her father, Mr M.C. Tyagi, served as a principal in a school while her mother ran a small school to teach the not-so-privileged kids from the nearby areas.
Dr Tyagi, who holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry, along with degrees in B.Sc., M.Sc., and B.Ed., had earlier served on the SJVN Board for a three-year term beginning November 8, 2021. With over 17 years of teaching experience, she has contributed significantly in both the academic and social development sectors.

In the year 2011, she was named Mrs. Indisar worldwide first runner-up. In the year 2012, in the Mrs. India International pageant organized in the city of Atlanta in the United States, she begged the Mrs. Congeniality award.
Beyond her academic background, Dr. Tyagi is also recognized for her social work in the areas of waste management, women and youth empowerment, skill development, primary education, and urban beautification.
SJVN, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, is a major player in India’s hydroelectric sector and also operates wind and solar energy projects, contributing to the nation’s renewable energy mission.
The re-appointment underscores SJVN’s commitment to drawing on diverse expertise and promoting inclusive governance on its Board.
