Indian Foreign Service officer Ms. Smita Pant has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Uzbekistan. She is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). Her appointment was made public via a press release by Ministry of External Affairs.
Ms. Pant is an IFS officer of 2011 batch. She will be taking place of Manish Prabhat, who assumed charge as Ambassador of India to Uzbekistan on 24 September, 2020. According to the press release, she is expected to take the charge in Uzbekistan shortly. She has also served as Consul General in Vietnam.
