Indian Masterminds Stories

New Delhi: RITES Ltd, a Railway Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, has entered into a strategic five-year partnership with Shree Cement to bolster the cement giant’s rail infrastructure network. This initiative aims to facilitate efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable transportation of raw materials and finished products across the company’s expanding manufacturing footprint in India.

End-to-End Rail Solutions from Concept to Commissioning
As per the agreement, RITES will offer comprehensive turnkey services – from conceptualization to commissioning – for the upgrading, renovation, and development of new rail connectivity at Shree Cement’s facilities. The partnership also includes an option to extend the agreement through mutual consent, highlighting a long-term vision for logistics transformation.

Strategic Move to Support Expansion and Sustainability Goals
Shree Cement’s Managing Director, Mr Neeraj Akhoury, emphasized the importance of robust logistics infrastructure as the company continues to expand nationwide.

“As we expand our manufacturing footprint across India, strengthening the logistics and supply chain infrastructure becomes increasingly critical,” he said.

  • Civil construction
  • Signaling and telecom systems
  • Overhead electrification
  • Mechanical engineering components

This support will help streamline the approval process and reduce project delays.

Tendering and Contractor Evaluation Support
In addition to project execution, RITES will play a key advisory role in the contractor selection process, helping Shree Cement evaluate and certify the eligibility of potential executing agencies during tenders. This ensures high-quality execution and adherence to technical standards.

Unspecified Number of Projects
While the number of projects under this partnership has not been disclosed, the scale and scope reflect a significant logistics overhaul that aligns with Shree Cement’s long-term infrastructure and growth strategy.
