New Delhi: NTPC Chairman and Managing Director Gurdeep Singh appreciated the strengths of Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) and underscored the need for closer collaboration to achieve India’s Nuclear Energy Mission target of 100 GW by 2047.
High-Level Visit to NPCIL
On August 16, 2025, at the invitation of NPCIL, Singh led NTPC’s senior management team to NPCIL Headquarters. They were warmly welcomed by NPCIL CMD Bhuwan Chandra Pathak and his team of senior officers.
Focus on Nuclear Technology and Growth
During the interaction, NPCIL presented a comprehensive overview of nuclear power technology, its evolution, regulatory complexities, and business challenges. The presentation also highlighted NPCIL’s growth journey, achievements, and future plans for expansion.
Mahi Banswara Project in Spotlight
Discussions covered several key areas, including the implementation of the Mahi Banswara 1 to 4 project. This indigenous Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) project, with a capacity of 4×700 MW, has been allocated to ASHVINI (a joint venture of NPCIL and NTPC) for execution.
Commitment to India’s Nuclear Energy Mission
Singh lauded NPCIL’s expertise in nuclear power and emphasized stronger engagements between the two PSUs. He highlighted that enhanced cooperation will be crucial for meeting the ambitious national target of generating 100 GW of nuclear energy by 2047.
