Chennai: Two days after the Government of India elevated five officers from the Tamil Nadu State Civil Service to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), the Tamil Nadu government on Friday issued orders posting the newly inducted officers to cadre-level positions.
The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) had, on October 29, appointed S. Kavitha, C. Muthukumaran, P.S. Leela Alex, M. Veerappan, and R. Revathi to the IAS (Select List 2023) on probation and allocated them to the Tamil Nadu cadre.
New Postings Announced
According to a Government Order (G.O.) issued on Friday, the following appointments were made:
- C. Muthukumaran, previously serving as Joint Director of the Tamil Nadu Disaster Risk Reduction Agency (TNDRA), has been promoted and posted as Director (Disaster Management) of the same agency.
- S. Kavitha has been appointed as Joint Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers Federation Limited (Aavin).
- P.S. Leela Alex has been named Member Secretary of the Chennai Rivers Restoration Trust (CRRT) and will also assume charge as Managing Director of the Chennai River Transformation Company Limited (CRTC Ltd.).
- M. Veerappan has been posted as Additional Registrar in the office of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies.
- R. Revathi has been assigned as Deputy Secretary in the Higher Education Department.
These appointments mark the formal induction of the officers into the IAS cadre following their elevation from the Tamil Nadu Civil Service.
Other Key Administrative Changes
Alongside the cadre postings, the State government also issued additional transfer and posting orders for senior officials:
- R. Kannan has been appointed Secretary of the State Human Rights Commission and will also serve as Vice-Chairperson and Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Watershed Development Agency (TNAWDA).
- S.P. Amrith has been named Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services.
These administrative moves are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure smooth functioning and effective delivery across key departments.
Strengthening the Administrative Framework
The induction of five new IAS officers strengthens the Tamil Nadu cadre, ensuring an infusion of experienced officers from the State Civil Service into critical administrative roles.
