Tamil Nadu Police Reshuffle: 9 IPS Officers Transferred; Anisa Husain Appointed IGP, Idol Wing CID

Chennai: In a significant reshuffle of key police officials, several senior officers in Chennai and Coimbatore have been reassigned to new roles across various departments, including the CB-CID, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, and Greater Chennai Police (GCP).

Anisa Husain Moves to Lead Idol Wing CID

In one of the major changes, Anisa Husain, currently serving as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in the Special Investigation Division, CB-CID, has been appointed as the new IGP of the Idol Wing CID, succeeding S Lakshmi. S Lakshmi will now take over as IGP, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, SIC-II in Chennai.

This leadership change in the specialized wings of the police is expected to bring fresh perspectives and drive further efficiency in tackling key issues such as idol theft and corruption.

Sonal Chandra Appointed as New DIG/Joint Commissioner (Traffic North)

Sonal Chandra, a senior Deputy IGP, has been appointed as the new DIG/Joint Commissioner of Police (JC), Traffic (North) at Greater Chennai Police (GCP). This is a significant move, as the Traffic North division is critical to managing the flow of one of India’s busiest urban areas.

G Jawahar’s New Role in Metro Zone CB-CID

G Jawahar, who was previously serving as the Superintendent of Police (SP), North Zone, CB-CID, has been moved to the newly created role of SP, Metro Zone, CB-CID. He will continue to hold full additional charge of SP, North Zone, CB-CID, marking a strategic move to strengthen the newly introduced Metro Zone within the department.

R Sughasini and MP Dhivya’s Key Transfers

R Sughasini, previously the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC), Headquarters, Coimbatore, has been transferred as DC, Traffic (West), GCP. MP Dhivya, the Additional SP, Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Coimbatore, will take over Sughasini’s previous role in Coimbatore.

This transfer aims to streamline the traffic management in the western part of Chennai, which is experiencing rapid growth and increasing congestion.

BH Shajitha’s Promotion to SP, Coordination and Administration, CB-CID

BH Shajitha, who served as Deputy Commandant, TN Special Police, VI Battalion, Madurai, has been promoted to the position of SP, Coordination and Administration, CB-CID, Chennai. She will also take on additional responsibility as SP, South Zone, CB-CID. This appointment is a strategic move to bolster coordination within the CID and improve response times in the southern zones of Chennai.

Transfers in Greater Chennai Police

In further reshuffles, P Vijaya Kumar, currently DIG/JC, Law and Order (East Zone, GCP), and Bandi Gangadhar, DIG/JC, Traffic South (GCP), have exchanged postings. These exchanges reflect an ongoing effort to optimize law enforcement efficiency across different zones of Chennai, particularly in law and order and traffic management.
