Rishiganga: The Vishnugad Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project (VPHEP) of THDC India Limited, a 4×111 MW project, has achieved a major engineering milestone with the successful completion of Hydro Static Testing (HST) of the Spiral Case of Unit-2 at the project’s powerhouse.
Significance of Hydro Static Testing
Hydro Static Testing is a critical phase in the construction of hydroelectric projects, carried out to ensure the structural integrity, durability, and safety of major components under designed water pressure. The successful HST of Unit-2’s Spiral Case confirms that the unit is structurally sound and moving closer to commissioning readiness.

CM and Officials Appreciate Milestone
Chairman and Managing Director of THDC India Limited, Sipan Kumar Garg, congratulated the VPHEP team on the achievement, describing it as a major stride in the construction progress of the project. He emphasized that the milestone reflects the technical expertise, teamwork, and coordination of the VPHEP team along with associated partners.
The event was attended by senior officials including Ajay Verma (HOP, VPHEP), Ravindra Singh Rana (GM, EM), Sanjay Mamgain (AGM, HM/Mechanical), Ajay Kumar (AGM, G&G), A.K. Shrivastava (AGM, F&A), Karan Bargali (DGM, EM), and other key project personnel.
Progress Towards Commissioning
The completion of the Hydro Static Testing for Unit-2 demonstrates VPHEP’s steady progress toward operational readiness. This milestone is an important step in the commissioning process, ensuring that the project’s units will perform safely and efficiently once operational.
