New Delhi: THDC India Limited, a Mini Ratna Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Power, has been conferred with the prestigious ‘Rajbhasha Jyoti Shield’ in recognition of its outstanding performance in promoting the use of Hindi in official work for the year 2023–24.
The award was presented during a meeting of the Hindi Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Power, Government of India. Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Mr Manohar Lal, presented the award to Mr R.K. Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director, and Mr Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel), who received it on behalf of the organization.
Senior Officials and Dignitaries Attend the Ceremony
The event witnessed the presence of Union Minister of State for Power, Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, Power Secretary Shri Pankaj Agarwal (IAS), and Mr Dheeraj Kumar Srivastava, Chief Engineer (In-charge, Official Language). Senior representatives from other Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) under the Ministry of Power, Hindi Advisory Committee members, and various dignitaries also attended.
CMD Lauds Employees’ Dedication
Speaking on the occasion, CMD Shri R.K. Vishnoi congratulated THDC employees for their commitment and sustained efforts.
“The key to success lies in dedicated and continuous efforts. While THDC continues to accelerate its business operations, it is equally devoted to meeting its constitutional and statutory responsibilities,” he stated.
Multiple Recognitions for Hindi Promotion in 2023–24
According to Director (Personnel) Shri Shallinder Singh, THDC earned the highest score among all institutions under the Ministry of Power for its implementation of the Official Language Policy, leading to the ‘Rajbhasha Jyoti Shield’ recognition.
In addition to this latest accolade –
- On 14 September 2024, THDC received the First Rajbhasha Kirti Award from the Ministry of Home Affairs, presented by Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah.
- On 29 January 2025, THDC bagged the First Prize of the NARAKAS Rajbhasha Vaijayanti Award during the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (Haridwar) meeting.
These back-to-back recognitions underscore THDC’s leadership in promoting the Hindi language across government undertakings.
THDC’s Official Language Magazine ‘Pahal’ Released
The ceremony also marked the unveiling of the 35th edition of THDC’s Hindi house journal ‘Pahal’, along with other magazines from various PSUs under the Ministry of Power. The publication showcases the company’s linguistic initiatives and highlights best practices in the use of Hindi.
