Lucknow: A major step toward regional tourism integration was taken as Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and concluded a high-impact tourism road show in Lucknow, aimed at strengthening bilateral tourism, investment, and cultural exchange between the two states.
The event witnessed the active participation of tourism officials, tour operators, hoteliers, and investors from both states. A bilateral business dialogue also took place, paving the way for new opportunities in hospitality, religious tourism, and heritage circuits.

A Vision for Joint Tourism Growth
Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, present at the event, called the growing cooperation in tourism a part of a “threefold revolution” — industrial, green, and tourism-based development. He emphasized that both states are fertile ground for this transformation.
“A tourism revolution in Madhya Pradesh will bring employment and inclusive development,” he added.
Ganga-Narmada Corridor and Religious Circuits in Focus
Principal Secretary of MP Tourism Board, Shivshekhar Shukla, unveiled plans for a Ganga-Narmada Tourism Corridor, which will connect major religious and heritage destinations such as Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Varanasi, Omkareshwar, and Mahakaleshwar. This initiative is expected to give a new dimension to spiritual and cultural tourism in northern and central India.
In addition, both states agreed to conduct joint research and development on tourism circuits such as:
- Shri Ram Path Gaman
- Shri Krishna Pathey
- Buddha Circuit
These are intended to foster pilgrimage tourism and deepen inter-state cultural links.
Infrastructure and Connectivity Improvements
Tourism Minister Dharmendra Lodhi highlighted that under Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav’s leadership, tourism infrastructure in Madhya Pradesh is undergoing rapid transformation. He invited investors to be part of the growth story in areas like eco-tourism, heritage hotels, and adventure tourism.
Improved air and rail connectivity now links Lucknow, Varanasi, Agra, and Prayagraj with Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Khajuraho, and Gwalior. Madhya Pradesh has also expanded its road network, improving access to key destinations within the state.

Bollywood Presence and Upcoming Events
Acclaimed actor Pankaj Tripathi graced the event as a special guest, endorsing the tourism potential of both states and calling for greater promotion of India’s cultural wealth.
This road show forms a part of preparations for the Madhya Pradesh Travel Mart and Regional Tourism Conclave, slated to be held soon, which will further push collaboration and investment in the tourism sector.
