Amid the ongoing second wave of Covid-19 two IAS officer have lost their lives in 24 hours. Sanjay Gupta, a 1985 batch Gujarat-cadre former IAS officer and Assam’s first lady IAS officer, Parul Devi Das succumbed to COVID-19 on Monday.
Mr. Gupta was an alumnus of IIT Roorkee and had held top-level positions in various departments of Gujarat government. As a bureaucrat, he was quite powerful in Gujarat. Later, he quit the job and became a successful entrepreneur.He was managing director of Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation between 1997 and 2002. He resigned in 2002 and joined Adani Group and also started his own hospitality business under the name of Neesa Group of Companies.
While, Das was Assam’s Additional Chief Secretary and she was the daughter of former Assam Minister Ramnath Das.
