Lucknow/New Delhi: In a major development for the Uttar Pradesh’s administrative services, 27 Provincial Civil Services (PCS) officers are set to be promoted to the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS) cadre. The decision follows a crucial meeting of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) held at the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) headquarters in New Delhi on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the names of 31 eligible PCS officers from the 2008 and 2010 batches were reviewed for 27 available IAS vacancies under two selection years. Promotion orders are expected to be issued by the end of this week.
Batch-Wise Breakdown and Process
According to official sources, 14 officers from the 2008 batch and 17 officers from the 2010 batch were considered. The 2009 PCS batch had no officers eligible for promotion this cycle, resulting in the inclusion of 2010 batch officers.
An earlier DPC meeting in April had to be deferred due to objections raised regarding certain candidates. These concerns were resolved ahead of Wednesday’s session, allowing the process to move forward.
Top Officials Present
Senior officials from both the state and central governments were present for the DPC proceedings, including:–
- Manoj Kumar Singh, Chief Secretary of the State
- S.P. Goyal, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister
- M. Devraj, Principal Secretary, Appointment Department
- Vijay Kumar, Special Secretary, Appointment Department
- Representatives from the UPSC and Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions
This step marks a significant career milestone for the selected officers and will help fill critical leadership roles at the IAS level in the state bureaucracy.
