Sambhal, UP: The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh Government has issued a partial amendment in the work division of four gazetted police officers (PPS cadre) posted in Sambhal district, realigning key responsibilities and supervision duties. This administrative reshuffle comes amid fresh controversy surrounding one officer’s prior remarks.
Superintendent of Police Krishna Kumar Bishnoi initiated the reshuffle, which has led to changes at the Circle Officer level in three police circles. The updated responsibilities are as follows:
Revised Work Allocation: As per the amended order, the work division is as follows –
Alok Kumar, Assistant Superintendent of Police, has been appointed Circle Officer (CO), Sambhal. He will supervise Line, Training, Cyber Crime Police Station, and the Digital Branch.
Anuj Kumar Chaudhary, Deputy Superintendent of Police, previously CO Sambhal, has now been designated Circle Officer, Chandausi, and assigned to oversee Court Security, Chandausi Court, and NAFIS (under the Monitoring Cell).
Santosh Kumar Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, previously in charge of Traffic, has now become Circle Officer, Office/UP-112, and also responsible for the Media Cell, Public Hearings, and Local Intelligence Unit (LIU).
Alok Sidhu, Deputy Superintendent of Police, has been reassigned from Chandausi to become Circle Officer, Bahjoi, where he will oversee the Women and Child Protection Organization Unit.
Dr. Pradeep Kumar Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, formerly CO Bahjoi, will now serve as Circle Officer, Traffic.
CO Anuj Chaudhary Controversy: Clean Chit Cancelled
This reshuffle also comes as CO Anuj Kumar Chaudhary finds himself at the center of controversy. During a peace committee meeting held on the occasion of Holi and a Friday prayer, he reportedly made remarks such as: “Holi comes once a year, Friday comes 52 times. If someone avoids colors, then he should stay indoors.”
He also added – “If you want to feed Seviyan on Eid, then you will have to eat Holi Gujiya as well.”
The statements, widely circulated on social media, drew criticism for being insensitive and communally charged.
Though he had earlier received a clean chit, the Director General of Police (DGP) has now cancelled that clearance, following an official objection raised by Azad Adhikar Sena’s national president and former IPS officer, Amitabh Thakur. The matter will now undergo fresh investigation.
