Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Yogi Adityanath, while addressing a gathering on the occasion of International MSME Day at Lok Bhawan, declared that the state’s thriving MSME sector is a testament to inclusive growth, where caste and class are irrelevant, and the sole focus is on skill development and entrepreneurship.
CM YUVA App Launched Under Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Yojana
The Chief Minister launched the CM YUVA app, a key digital tool under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Yojana, designed to promote youth entrepreneurship in the state. The scheme offers interest-free and collateral-free loans of Rs. 5 lakh, entirely through an online process, aimed at reducing bureaucratic hurdles for young entrepreneurs.
Since its launch in January 2024, more than 55,000 youth aged 18 to 40 have already benefited from the initiative. The scheme’s phased model allows for higher financial assistance in subsequent rounds: Rs. 7.5 lakh in Phase 2, and up to Rs. 10 lakh in Phase 3, after the repayment of earlier loans.
Mr. Adityanath emphasized that the scheme has drawn a diverse range of ideas – from traditional small-scale businesses to cloud kitchens, digital libraries, drones, food carts, and eco-friendly brick manufacturing. Many of these enterprises have not only expanded across the state and country but are also exploring export opportunities.
Security Shield for Entrepreneurs and Boost for Local Talent
Calling the scheme a “security shield for small entrepreneurs,” the Chief Minister noted that it helps retain the state’s talent, reducing outmigration and enabling youth to become job providers rather than job seekers. “Our aim is to ensure that every young person with a dream and skill receives the support needed to build a business within UP,” he said.
Uttar Pradesh’s MSME Landscape: The Largest in the Country
CM Yogi Adityanath proudly shared that Uttar Pradesh has more than 96 lakh MSMEs, employing around 2 crore people, making it the largest MSME base in India. These MSMEs not only drive grassroots development but also act as feeder units for large industries, strengthening the state’s overall industrial ecosystem.
From Struggling to Soaring: Bhadohi Carpets and GI-Tagged Products
Highlighting the transformation in Uttar Pradesh’s global image, Mr. Adityanath said:
“There was a time when people hesitated to visit UP, unable to even get a hotel room despite paying. Today, the state is known for being crime-free and having world-class infrastructure.”
He cited the turnaround of Bhadohi’s carpet industry as a remarkable example. Once struggling, the sector now contributes 60% of India’s carpet exports. The Chief Minister credited this revival to focused policy reforms, GI tag promotion, and MSME support systems.
Vision for a Self-Reliant and Prosperous Uttar Pradesh
The CM concluded by reiterating that the MSME sector forms the backbone of Uttar Pradesh’s economic growth. By ensuring access to finance, skill training, and global markets, the government aims to make UP a hub for innovative, youth-led entrepreneurship.
The event not only showcased the economic potential of Uttar Pradesh’s youth but also reaffirmed the state’s commitment to aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) by 2047.
