Gorakhpur — In a move aimed at empowering low- and middle-income families, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday inaugurated two new Kalyan Mandaps in the city. These community halls are part of the government’s efforts to provide dignified, budget-friendly venues for social and cultural functions.
Modern Facilities, Community-Focused
- The first mandap, located in Manbela (Baba Gambhirnath Nagar ward), covers 1,500 sq meters and was built using ₹2.65 crore from the CM’s MLA fund. It features a multipurpose hall, kitchen, storage rooms, changing areas, and separate washrooms, with a capacity of 250 people.
- The second mandap at Rapti Nagar Extension (Tola Piru Shaheed) occupies 450 sq meters and was developed using ₹85 lakh from the Gorakhpur Development Authority budget. It includes a multipurpose hall, two rooms, verandah, open terrace, and gender-specific washrooms—fitting around 125 attendees.
A Dash of Humor with Social Sensitivity
In his speech, CM Yogi quipped that if actor-MP Ravi Kishan were to host a gathering, people wouldn’t need to travel far or go to lavish venues—they could simply enjoy it at these nearby halls.
Building for Inclusivity
Gorakhpur now boasts five operational Kalyan Mandaps, with more underway. These venues are priced affordably between ₹11,000 and ₹25,000, making it easier for less privileged families to host events with dignity.
Beyond Events—A Broader Vision for Development
CM Yogi underscored that these halls are part of a larger vision where every resident gets basic amenities—a permanent roof, good health, and economic support. He highlighted concurrent improvements in roads, a fertilizer plant, beautification projects like Chiluatal, and facilities under Smart City, Safe City, and Swachhta initiatives.

A Glimpse of the Present, Promise of the Future
“What was once exclusive to Gujarat, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu is now happening here in Madhya Pradesh,” the CM said, tapping into the state’s ambition to lead industrially and socially.
He also shared outcomes like free healthcare for citizens over 70 via Ayushman cards, housing for 57 lakh poor families, and assistance of ₹1 lakh under the Kanya Sumangala scheme. He even marked the first-annaprasan of two children in one of these new mandaps!
