Lucknow / Ayodhya: In a major step to enhance security infrastructure in the temple town of Ayodhya, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has approved a proposal to lease eight acres of land for 99 years to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for establishing a National Security Guard (NSG) hub.
The land is located in the Gaura Barik Cantonment area of Ayodhya Sadar tehsil and is considered strategically vital for quick deployment and operational readiness of elite NSG commandos in case of any emergency or terror threat.
“In view of enhanced security requirements in Ayodhya and nearby sensitive establishments, the district administration had proposed this land allocation. The cabinet has approved it to ensure swift response capabilities,” said UP Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna.

Land Transfer with Conditions
Khanna clarified that while the land is being transferred free of cost, it comes with specific conditions and is being granted as a one-time exception, not to be treated as a precedent for future land transfers.
The move is part of a broader security strategy for Ayodhya, which has witnessed an increase in domestic and international footfall following the construction of the Ram Mandir and related infrastructure. The NSG hub is expected to significantly bolster counter-terror preparedness and emergency response in the region.
“This underlines the state government’s commitment to ensuring a robust security environment in Ayodhya and surrounding areas,” Khanna added.

Why It Matters
