Lucknow: The transfer wheel in Uttar Pradesh is in motion again, with the Yogi Adityanath led state government assigning new responsibilities to key officers. On Monday, two IAS officers received key postings related to the upcoming Magh Mela in Prayagraj.
Rishi Raj Given Additional Charge for Magh Mela
IAS Rishi Raj (2018 batch, UP cadre), who currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Prayagraj Development Authority, has been assigned the additional responsibility of Mela Adhikari, Magh Mela, Prayagraj.
The officer, born on February 23, 1994, will now manage his existing duties alongside the critical role of overseeing the administration and arrangements for the annual festival attended by lakhs of devotees.
Rishi Raj, an officer from Singrauli, MP and B.Tech graduate in Electrical Engineering from ISM Dhanbad, secured AIR 27 in UPSC 2017. After being declared medically unfit for engineering, he turned to civil services, driven by determination and focus. He currently serves as Municipal Commissioner.
Dayanand Prasad Transferred to Prayagraj Magh Mela Post
IAS Dayanand Prasad, recently promoted from PCS to IAS in July 2025, has been assigned the responsibility of Additional Mela Adhikari, Magh Mela, Prayagraj.
Previously, he held the roles of Additional Director (Administration), Agriculture Directorate, Uttar Pradesh, and Additional Mela Adhikari, Kumbh Mela, Prayagraj. Originally from Ballia district, he was born on July 20, 1979, and belongs to the 2008 PCS batch.
Frequent Transfers Continue in UP
The Uttar Pradesh government frequently transfers IAS and IPS officers, assigning them new responsibilities to ensure smooth governance and administration. These latest postings reflect a focus on effective planning and execution of major religious events, including the Magh Mela, which requires meticulous coordination of infrastructure, security, and public services.
