Lucknow: UP Transfers 3 IPS Officers, New SPs Appointed in Deoria and Ambedkarnagar
In a fresh administrative move, the Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday transferred three Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, reassigning key district-level responsibilities as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen law and order in the state.
The reshuffle saw changes in the leadership of Deoria and Ambedkarnagar districts, while one officer was attached to the Police Headquarters.
Sanjiv Suman Removed as Deoria SP, Attached to Police HQ
Sanjiv Suman, who was serving as Superintendent of Police (SP) of Deoria, has been removed from his post and attached to the Police Headquarters.
Officials said he will now be posted at the office of the Director General of Police (DGP), marking a significant shift from his district-level responsibilities.

Abhijit R. Shankar Appointed New SP of Deoria
Abhijit R. Shankar has been appointed as the new Superintendent of Police of Deoria.
Prior to this transfer, he was serving as SP of Ambedkarnagar. His posting to Deoria is seen as part of routine administrative adjustments aimed at optimizing leadership in sensitive districts.
Prachi Singh Takes Charge as Ambedkarnagar SP
Prachi Singh, who was earlier serving as Commandant of the 32nd Battalion, Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) in Lucknow, has been appointed as the new Superintendent of Police of Ambedkarnagar.
Her appointment marks a transition from a battalion command role to district policing.
Part of Ongoing Administrative Reshuffle
The latest transfers come shortly after the state government assigned first postings to 12 IPS officers, indicating a broader administrative reshuffle underway.
Officials noted that such transfers are part of continuous efforts by the government led by Yogi Adityanath to maintain effective policing and administrative efficiency across Uttar Pradesh.
Focus on Strengthening Law and Order
The reshuffle ensures that experienced officers are placed in key positions to manage district-level law and order.
With two officers being assigned district command roles and one moved to headquarters, the changes reflect a strategic redistribution of responsibilities within the police force.
