Greater Noida: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEDA) has submitted formal proposals to the Uttar Pradesh government for the development of Japan City and Singapore City in Greater Noida. The identified land spans 1,000 acres, with 500 acres allocated for each city, marking a strategic step toward accelerating industrial growth and international investment in the region.
Land Identification and Master Planning
According to YEDA CEO R.K. Singh, land for both cities has been strategically identified in Sector-5A (Japan City) and Sector-7 (Singapore City). Plans for land acquisition are already prepared, ensuring smooth project execution. The proposals are considered timely and significant in view of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s upcoming foreign visits to Japan and Singapore, highlighting the state’s intent to attract global investors.

Integrated Industrial City Concept
Both sectors are planned as multi-purpose industrial zones with a mixed-use development model:
- Industrial use: 70% of total land
- Residential use: up to 12%
- Commercial use: up to 13%
- Institutional facilities: minimum 5%
This approach aims to create integrated industrial cities that combine industrial production, residential spaces, commercial hubs, and institutional facilities, making them modern, self-reliant, and globally competitive.
EPC Mode and Development Strategy
Japan City and Singapore City are proposed to be developed under the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) mode, ensuring structured execution and adherence to international standards. The projects are expected to generate significant employment opportunities, attract foreign direct investment, and strengthen the industrial ecosystem along the Yamuna Expressway corridor.
Strategic Significance
These new cities are envisioned to be high-tech, globally aligned industrial hubs that enhance Uttar Pradesh’s manufacturing capabilities and urban infrastructure. By integrating industrial, residential, commercial, and institutional facilities, YEDA aims to create model cities that support economic growth while maintaining sustainable urban development.
