Lucknow: In a major step towards enhancing the health and well-being of police personnel and their families, the Uttar Pradesh Police Family Welfare Association (VAMA Sarathi), led by IRS officer Meenakshi Singh, wife of UP DGP Rajeev Krishna, successfully organized a statewide wellness camp on Sunday.

Held in partnership with Dr Lal Path Labs, the initiative marked the first large-scale health screening of its kind in the state’s police force, covering 34 districts and benefiting 9,527 participants — including 5,326 men, 2,145 women, and 213 children.

First-of-its-Kind Wellness Initiative

The VAMA wellness camp offered a range of comprehensive diagnostic tests, health check-ups, and preventive care awareness, all at highly subsidised rates.

The effort was aimed at early detection of health issues, improving physical and mental well-being, and ultimately boosting the operational readiness of the police force.

District-Wise Participation

Major cities and districts across Uttar Pradesh saw strong participation. Some key figures include:

  • Lucknow: 311 participants
  • Jhansi: 332 participants
  • Kheri: 225 participants
  • Sultanpur: 175 participants
  • Bulandshahr: 160 participants
  • Meerut: 140 participants

Other participating districts included Agra, Prayagraj, Kanpur Nagar, Varanasi, Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Aligarh, Bareilly, and many more — representing a truly statewide mobilization.

Women in Leadership & Execution

The success of the event was driven by VAMA Sarathi’s Health and Wellness Committee, comprising spouses of senior police officials:

  • Chetna Gupta
  • Richa Chaudhary
  • Dr Komal
  • Akanksha Gupta
  • Arunima

Charu Gaba, Secretary of VAMA Sarathi, oversaw execution at the district level alongside local chapter heads.

Key Outcomes

  • Introduced world-class diagnostics to grassroots-level police personnel
  • Promoted preventive health culture within the police force
  • Strengthened community feeling among police families
  • Enhanced awareness of mental and physical wellness

Leadership Speaks

VAMA Sarathi Chairperson Meenakshi Singh stated,

This wellness initiative is not just about health check-ups. It is about caring for those who serve and protect society daily — a small step with a big impact.”
