Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission has expanded the permitted radius for recording biometric attendance at training centres from 100 metres to 500 metres. The decision aims to address technical and practical difficulties faced by trainees while marking their attendance due to the earlier geo-fencing limit.

Under the revised arrangement, trainees will be able to record their biometric attendance within a 500-metre radius of their designated training centre. However, attendance will only be accepted within this prescribed limit.

Training Centres Can Update Location Details on Portal

According to Mission Director Pulkit Khare, training centres have been provided with the facility to update their accurate latitude and longitude through their respective portal logins.

Training providers can also register the locations of different types of training facilities on the portal, including:

  • Residential training centres
  • Non-residential training centres
  • On-the-Job Training (OJT) locations

This facility will allow training providers to update location details according to their operational requirements.

Biometric Devices Must Be Installed at Registered Locations

The biometric attendance devices must be installed at the same locations whose coordinates have been updated on the mission portal.

If a training centre or biometric device is shifted to another location, the training provider will have to submit a request to update the new geographical coordinates on the portal.

This requirement is intended to ensure that attendance is recorded only at authorised and registered training locations.

Fake Location and Mock Location Apps Strictly Prohibited

While the attendance radius has been increased to provide greater convenience to trainees, the mission has maintained restrictions to prevent misuse of the system. The use of fake location services or mock location applications for marking biometric attendance is strictly prohibited.

The revised 500-metre geo-fencing arrangement is expected to make attendance recording easier for trainees while maintaining location-based monitoring and transparency at training centres across Uttar Pradesh.
