Aligarh: In a major development push for western Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 186 projects worth ₹958 crore in Aligarh on Tuesday. Speaking at a grand public event, the CM outlined his vision for Aligarh as a rising urban hub, encouraged citizens to adopt Swadeshi products, and reinforced the importance of cleanliness and national pride ahead of Independence Day.

Major Announcements & Project Highlights

  • Total Projects: 186
  • Inaugurated: 83 projects worth ₹398 crore
  • Foundation Stones Laid: 105 projects worth ₹560 crore
  • Departments involved include Urban Development, PWD, C&DS, and Jal Nigam.

    Yogi called Aligarh a city of growing promise — blending tradition with modernity. “It’s time for Aligarh to go beyond its legacy of locks and emerge as a symbol of a new India,” he said.

    Paying tribute to former CM Kalyan Singh, Yogi said today’s progress is rooted in the visionary groundwork laid by “Babuji.”

    Under the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme, Aligarh’s lock and hardware industry has gained global exposure, boosting local entrepreneurship.
  4. Educational Growth via Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh University
    The new state university is set to become a center for education, patriotism, and historical research.
  5. Aligarh in the Defence Manufacturing Map
    The UP Defence Corridor has put Aligarh on the national map with components of missile systems like BrahMos now being developed here.

During the event, CM Yogi personally handed over scheme benefits to thousands:

  • Financial cheques to self-help groups
  • Tablets to meritorious students
  • PMAY keys to housing beneficiaries
  • Ayushman Bharat golden cards to health scheme enrollees
  • Nutrition kits and ceremonial annaprashan for infants

Appeal for Swadeshi, Cleanliness & Patriotism

Yogi Adityanath strongly urged citizens to support local products during festivals like Raksha Bandhan, rather than purchasing foreign goods.

“When we invest in our own people, we invest in India’s prosperity.”

He also reminded people to join the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign from August 13 to 15, encouraging every home, office, and school to proudly hoist the national flag.

In addition, the CM made a clarion call for cleanliness:

  • Avoid plastic use
  • Don’t litter in drains
  • Work with municipal bodies to keep cities clean
