Lucknow: The third edition of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS-2025) concluded on a high note in Lucknow, with Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal praising the state’s remarkable growth under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Speaking at the grand closing ceremony, the Union Minister hailed the trade show as a symbol of Uttar Pradesh’s economic, industrial, and cultural resurgence, reflecting not just the state’s, but the nation’s growing global potential.
“UP on an Unstoppable Growth Trajectory”
Highlighting Uttar Pradesh’s transformation over the past eight years, Goyal credited the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and decisive governance by CM Yogi Adityanath for driving an era of inclusive development, security, and economic resurgence.
“Today, UP is no longer the state of fear and stagnation. It is a beacon of opportunity and a preferred destination for investors,” he stated.
UPITS 2025: A Showcase of Unity and Opportunity
Calling UPITS 2025 a model of inclusivity, the minister highlighted the participation of ministers, officials, entrepreneurs, MSMEs, exporters, women entrepreneurs, and startups, making it a unique platform for collaborative growth.
“When all stakeholders unite, it creates perfect synergy—this is the true secret of Uttar Pradesh’s success story,” he said.
“Vocal for Local” and Swadeshi: The Call to Action
Reinforcing the ‘Vocal for Local’ vision of PM Modi, Goyal made a strong pitch for embracing Swadeshi, urging citizens to prioritise indigenous products crafted by Indian artisans.
“Swadeshi is not just about self-reliance. It’s about respecting the sweat and effort of our people, supporting Indian soil, and sustaining employment within our borders,” he said.
Unity Malls and ODOP: Catalysts for Local Empowerment
Goyal highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s pioneering role as the first state to create a dedicated Ministry for Export Promotion. He also praised the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, which has now expanded to over 750 districts nationwide, with 1,200+ products gaining global recognition.
He announced that three Unity Malls will soon be set up in Lucknow, Agra, and Varanasi, showcasing ODOP products from all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh and other states. These malls are expected to provide a major boost to women entrepreneurs and youth.
Transformative Reforms and GST Savings Festival
Referring to the GST Savings Festival, launched on September 22, Goyal hailed it as a historic economic reform, providing relief to consumers during Navratri by reducing taxes on essential items.
“September 22 marks a turning point — the largest reform since independence — and its benefits will resonate for decades,” Goyal declared.
From Fear to Fortune: A New Uttar Pradesh
Reflecting on the situation before 2017, Goyal said that the state was once plagued by crime, stalled projects, and economic paralysis. Half of Noida’s projects were incomplete, factories had shut down, and traders felt unsafe.
Since the BJP’s landslide victory in 2017, law and order have improved, investor confidence has returned, and a new era of industrial development has begun.
Celebrating UP’s Artistry on the Global Stage
UPITS 2025 served as a global platform for Uttar Pradesh’s famed handicrafts and manufacturing, from Firozabad’s glassware, Moradabad’s brass work, Banarasi sarees, Lucknow’s chikankari, to Agra’s leather products.
“This is not just an exhibition—it’s a living demonstration of the success of Uttar Pradesh’s industrial policies,” Goyal said, adding that the recent GST rate reductions will only further drive consumption and benefit small businesses.
Concluding Note: A Viksit Bharat by 2047
Closing his address, the Union Minister reiterated a collective national goal: to realise a developed India (Viksit Bharat) by 2047, driven by entrepreneurship, innovation, and a culture of Swadeshi.
