A day after releasing the result of prestigious UPSC CSE-2023 exam, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the Marks of Civil Services Final Examination. Candidate’s written exam marks, interview marks and the total — it is available online now.
This year, Aditya Srivastava, the Lucknow candidate who topped the exam, secured a total of 1099 marks, including 899 in the mains written exam and 200 in the interview. While second topper, Animesh Pradhan from Odisha, got 892 marks in written test and 175 marks in interview, total 1067. Third topper Donuru Ananya Reddy who hails from Telangana, has scored 875 marks in written test and 190 marks in interview, total marks 1065.
While ranked 4th in CSE-2023, PK Sidharth Ramkumar, a IPS Trainee From Kerala, got a total of 1059 marks, including 874 in the mains written exam and 185 in the interview. Ms Ruhani from Gurugram, Haryana, who secured rank 5 got 856 marks in written test and 193 marks in interview, total 1049.

The top 25 successful candidates consisted of 10 women and 15 men, with diverse educational backgrounds ranging from engineering to humanities, Medical Science, Commerce, Architecture, Law from premier Institutions of the country such as IIT, IIM, NIT, University of Delhi, National Law University etc. Interestingly, 12 out of top 20 successful candidates are Engineers.
A total of 1016 candidates (664 men and 352 women) have been selected for the service this year, which is bigger in comparison to last year’s results which saw a total of 933 selected candidates.
Top 25 successful candidates have opted for subjects like Anthropology, Chemistry, Geography, Economics, Electrical Engineering, Law, History, Mathematics, Physics, Political Science & International Relations and Sociology as their optional choice in the Written (Main) Examination.
The prestigious UPSC CSE-2023 preliminary exam was held on May 28, 2023, and the results of the examination were released on June 22. The main examination was held from September 15, 16, 17, 23, and 24, 2023, with sessions running from 9 am to 12 pm and from 2 pm to 5 pm, and the results were declared on December 8, 2023. The Interview round conducted in three phases, which began on Janaury 04, 2024 were concluded on April 09, 2024.
As many as 13,00,000 candidates applied for the country’s most prestigious UPSC CSE examination. A total number of 14,624 candidates qualified for the Main (written) exam. Of them, 2,834 candidates qualified for the Interview, which means only 19.37% of candidates qualified for the Interview round.
This year, out of the 1,105 vacancies which also include 37 vacancies reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disability Category, 180 vacancies are for Indian Administrative Service (IAS), 200 for Indian Police Service (IPS), 37 for Indian Foreign Services (IFS) and 295 for Indian Revenue Services (IRS). There are also 150 vacancies for the newly introduced service – the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS).
The UPSC Civil Services Examination is one of the most prestigious and toughest examinations in India, conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to recruit suitable candidates for 21 civil services of India including IAS, IPS, IFS, and other allied services.
