UPSC CSE 2024 Mains Result Expected on This Date! Check Here for All Details

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is expected to announce the UPSC Mains Result 2024 soon on its official websites, upsc.gov.in and upsconline.nic.in. Candidates can access the result PDF once published, which will list the roll numbers of selected candidates. Subsequently, the commission will also release a Name List PDF featuring the names of shortlisted candidates.

Since the UPSC CSE 2023 Mains result was announced on December 8th last year, there is anticipation that the UPSC CSE 2024 Mains result will be declared between December 8th and December 10th, 2024.

Key Details to Note:

  • Result Timing: Last year, the UPSC Mains result was declared on December 8th, so candidates can anticipate a similar timeline this year.
  • Answer Key: The UPSC does not release an official answer key for the Mains examination. The answer key for the Prelims is published only after the final results are available.
  • Next Steps Post Result:
    • Qualified candidates must complete the second Detailed Application Form (DAF-II) to proceed to the Personality Test/Interview round.
    • The final results, along with the Prelims answer key and category-wise cutoffs, will be announced after the interviews.

UPSC CSE 2023

UPSC conducted the CSE-2023 Main Examination in two shifts on September 15th, 16th, 17th, 23rd and 24th, 2023. The first shift ran from 9 am to 12 noon and the second shift ran from 2 pm to 5 pm. Around 13 lakh candidates appeared in the UPSC Prelims exam, out of which around 15 thousand candidates were shortlisted for the UPSC Main exam. A total of 2844 candidates had qualified for the Interview and final round.

Finally, a total of 1016 candidates (664 men and 352 women) were selected for the service that year, which was bigger in comparison to that of CSE 2022, which saw a total of 933 selected candidates. The 2023 final cutoff for general category candidates was 953.

UPSC CSE 2024

The UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2024 was conducted nationwide on June 16th in two shifts. Initially scheduled for May 26, the exam date was postponed due to the general elections, as directed by the Election Commission.

Examination Statistics:

  • Candidates Appeared: Over 13.4 lakh candidates.
  • Result Announcement: The results were declared on July 1st, 2024, shortly after the exam.
  • Successful Candidates: A total of 14,627 candidates qualified for the Mains examination.

Candidates who cleared the Prelims were eligible to appear for the UPSC Civil Services Mains Examination 2024. These qualified candidates are now awaiting the Mains results, which will determine the next stage—DAF-II submission and Personality Test.

The UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024 aims to fill 1,056 vacancies in prestigious central government services, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS). Of the total vacancies, 40 seats are reserved for candidates under the Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) category, reflecting the commission’s commitment to inclusivity and diverse representation in central services.
