The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the notification for Indian Forest Service (Preliminary) Examination 2021 and Civil Service Prelims Examination 2021 on Thursday, March 4th, on its official website. As per the notification, IFS aspirants will have to clear the Civil Services exam to qualify Indian Forest Service (Main) examination. Candidates who are willing to appear for the examination can now register through the online mode.
The date scheduled for the examination is June 27th 2021. Through this recruitment process, a total of 822 vacancies will be filled out of which 712 vacancies are for Civil Services Exam and 110 are for Indian Forest Services Exam.
REQUIREMENTS
- Candidates applying for UPSC IAS Civil Services Exam 2021 must hold a Bachelor’s degree from any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions.
- Applicants applying for UPSC IFS Prelims 2021 must hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least one of the subjects including Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions.
- Candidates who are applying for UPSC IAS (Civil Services) 2021 and UPSC IFS 2021 must have attained the age of 21 years and should not have attained the age of 32 years.
- The candidates will have to clear the Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam for the selection of the Indian Forest Service (Main) Exam. The final list for the interview round will be based on the marks scored in the mains examination.
Furthermore, according to a notification posted by UPSC today, the number of positions advertised by them this year has gone down from 796 last year to 712. In 2019, the UPSC had advertised for 896 posts while it was 782 positions in 2018, despite a shortage of civil servants in the country.
The admit cards for the examination are likely to be released in May.
