Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh has achieved a significant milestone by maintaining electricity tariffs at the same level for the sixth consecutive year. Energy Minister A.K. Sharma congratulated the people of the state, emphasizing that this decision reflects the government’s consumer-centric policies and unwavering commitment to the economic well-being of residents.

Minister Sharma highlighted that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state government has been implementing consistent measures to strengthen the financial capacity of citizens while ensuring uninterrupted and quality electricity supply.

Benefit Across All Consumer Categories

The Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) announced that tariffs for domestic, commercial, industrial, agricultural, and rural consumers will remain unchanged for FY 2025–26. This decision ensures that no consumer category bears additional financial burden. The stable electricity rates will directly benefit millions of households, farmers, daily wage workers, and small and medium-sized businesses, fostering economic stability and supporting industrial growth.

Empowering Farmers, Businesses, and Middle Class

Minister Sharma stressed that maintaining consistent electricity rates protects household budgets, prevents an increase in irrigation costs for farmers, and offers financial stability to laborers and daily earners. Small traders, shopkeepers, and the middle class will also benefit significantly from this policy. The government’s decision to keep power rates stable during a period when many states are increasing tariffs highlights its dedication to public welfare and sensitivity to rising living costs.

Modernizing Electricity Infrastructure

Alongside tariff stability, the state government continues to focus on upgrading power infrastructure. Key initiatives include:

  • Replacing old transformers and transmission lines
  • Expanding underground cabling
  • Enhancing power supply reliability from Eastern to Western Uttar Pradesh
  • Strengthening rural electricity delivery
  • Controlling urban overloading issues

These efforts aim to ensure uninterrupted, safe, and high-quality electricity for all consumers across the state.

Government’s Commitment to Consumers

Energy Minister A.K. Sharma reiterated that the decision reflects the government’s commitment to consumer convenience as a top priority. He urged officials to further improve electricity supply and services, providing citizens with world-class infrastructure and service quality. He assured that future policies will continue to prioritize the interests of the general public.
