Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has once again demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of the people and the state’s economic prosperity. On Friday, he successfully ensured that the pension amounts for over 9.38 lakh beneficiaries were transferred to their bank accounts on time. Additionally, the Chief Minister reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to transforming Uttarakhand’s herbal resources into a thriving ‘Herbal Economy.’
Timely Relief for Pension Beneficiaries
Under the state’s welfare program, the government issued clear directives ensuring that pension amounts are credited to the accounts of beneficiaries by the 5th of each month. Speaking on the initiative, CM Dhami emphasized that this move is crucial for protecting vulnerable groups, including the elderly, widows, disabled individuals, farmers, and others in need, from financial hardship. This month, a pension amount of approximately ₹13,982.92 lakh was disbursed to the beneficiaries.
He further noted that the digital payment system would not only improve transparency but also eliminate the need for beneficiaries to visit government offices repeatedly. This streamlining of the pension distribution process ensures timely and efficient relief for those dependent on government support.
Focus on ‘Herbal Economy’ for Self-reliance and Employment
During a meeting of the Herbal Advisory Committee, CM Dhami urged officials to work towards leveraging the state’s rich herbal and medicinal resources for economic self-sufficiency and job creation. He directed the establishment of herbal product clusters in villages, which would facilitate everything from production to marketing. He also encouraged the study of best practices from other states to be adopted in Uttarakhand for better growth in the herbal sector.
This initiative aims not only to boost the local economy and empower farmers but also to create new employment opportunities, especially for women and youth in rural areas. By tapping into the potential of herbal products, the state government seeks to create sustainable livelihoods while making use of the natural resources available.
Administrative Reforms and Governance Accountability
CM Dhami’s government has already shown a strong track record of fulfilling its promises. The punctual pension distribution and the push for the growth of the herbal sector are prime examples of the government’s focus on both administrative reforms and socio-economic welfare. Through these initiatives, CM Dhami is ensuring that governance remains accountable, with a clear focus on people’s welfare.
Whether it is ensuring timely pension payments or turning Uttarakhand’s natural heritage into an economic asset, CM Dhami’s approach reflects the state’s commitment to good governance, sustainable development, and social justice. If these policies continue to be implemented effectively, Uttarakhand could experience significant economic and social transformation, further solidifying its place as a model state for governance and welfare in India.
