₹2 Crore Subsidy to Encourage Regional Films
Under the newly announced policy, filmmakers producing movies in regional languages such as Garhwali, Kumaoni, and Jaunsari can avail subsidies of up to ₹2 crore. The move is designed to encourage storytelling rooted in local traditions while providing financial support to creators.

Eightfold Increase in Subsidy for Local Language Films
According to an official release from the Chief Minister’s Office, the subsidy for regional films has been increased eight times compared to previous provisions. This significant boost reflects the government’s focus on nurturing grassroots talent and making regional cinema more commercially viable.
Additionally, filmmakers producing content in any of the 22 languages listed in India’s Eighth Schedule will also benefit, as subsidies for such productions have been doubled.
Driving Employment and Film Industry Growth
The policy is expected to have a ripple effect on employment and tourism. By attracting more film productions to the state, Uttarakhand aims to generate jobs and stimulate allied sectors such as hospitality, transport, and local services.
CM Dhami stated that the initiative will not only showcase the state’s rich cultural heritage to national and international audiences but also give a fresh push to the growth of the film industry within the region.
Ram Navami Celebrations Mark Cultural Commitment
On the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, CM Dhami, along with his wife Geeta Dhami, participated in traditional Kanya Pujan rituals at their residence. The ceremony involved honoring young girls as embodiments of the देवी and serving them food as a mark of respect.
Extending his greetings, the Chief Minister paid tribute to Lord Rama, describing him as “Maryada Purushottam” whose life continues to inspire values of truth, righteousness, and duty.
A Vision for Cultural and Economic Transformation
With this progressive film policy, Uttarakhand positions itself as an emerging hub for regional cinema in India. By blending cultural preservation with economic incentives, the state government aims to create a sustainable and vibrant film ecosystem that benefits both creators and communities.
