The announcement comes after Uttarakhand’s impressive performance in the 38th National Games in 2025, where the state not only successfully hosted the mega sporting event but also won 103 medals, marking its best-ever performance.
The event significantly boosted the state’s reputation as an emerging sports hub in India.

Different standards and guidelines have been set for stadiums, mini stadiums, and sports grounds, and construction is carried out depending on land availability and financial resources.
Plan to Utilize National Games Infrastructure
According to Sports Minister Rekha Arya, the state government is also preparing a detailed action plan under the guidance of CM Dhami to ensure the effective use of infrastructure created for the National Games.
This will allow athletes in the state to access international-level sports facilities for training and competitions.
Boosting Sports Activities in Haldwani
The government is also focusing on expanding sports activities in Haldwani, particularly in the Golapar area, where several initiatives are being implemented to strengthen sports infrastructure and promote athletic development.
Focus on Rural Youth and Sports Development
The plan to construct mini stadiums in every development block is expected to play a key role in promoting grassroots sports, identifying young talent, and strengthening Uttarakhand’s sports ecosystem.
With improved facilities and better access to training infrastructure, the state aims to encourage more youth to pursue sports at national and international levels.
