Uttarakhand has secured the top position in India in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Index 2023–24, released by NITI Aayog. Chief Minister Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami announced this significant achievement during the Vikas Sankalp Parv event in Haridwar on Friday, crediting the state’s success to a balanced approach to development.
“I am pleased to inform you that Uttarakhand has ranked first in the country in the NITI Aayog SDG Index for 2023–24. This is a result of our commitment to sustainable growth,” Mr. Dhami said, addressing a large public gathering. He also highlighted the state’s achievement in reducing the unemployment rate by 4.4%, surpassing the national average.
Foundation Stones Laid for 107 Projects Worth Rs. 550 Crore
As part of the development-focused event, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 107 projects worth approximately Rs. 550 crore. He also visited stalls put up by various departments and expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and affection received from the public.
Commitment to Progress and Public Welfare
Mr. Dhami reiterated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand is progressing with clear policy direction and public welfare initiatives. “Development is our priority, honesty is our identity, and public service is our resolve,” he said, stressing the government’s aim to place Uttarakhand among the leading states of the country.
He added that the newly launched and proposed projects in Haridwar would serve as a milestone for regional development, further reinforcing the state’s growth trajectory.
Centre Assures Support Amid Heavy Rains
Earlier in the day, Mr. Dhami had a telephone conversation with Union Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah regarding the heavy rainfall in the state’s disaster-prone areas. He informed the public that the Centre has assured immediate deployment of NDRF and ITBP personnel to manage relief efforts and ensure that the Char Dham Yatra remains uninterrupted, providing safety and convenience for pilgrims.
