Serving as Director (Marketing), Mr. Kumar expanded IndianOil’s presence to over 63,000 customer touchpoints and introduced pioneering, high-performance fuels that have reshaped India’s fuel market.

Transforming IndianOil’s Marketing and Customer Experience

Under his stewardship, IndianOil launched innovative initiatives such as Innovest, One Team One Goal, and Academy on Wheels — programs designed to foster agility, collaboration, and excellence within teams. He spearheaded the solarisation of retail networks and led the digital revolution by implementing tools like ITPS, Vishleshan, Kinaxis (SCM-Lubes), and big data analytics, enhancing operational efficiency and elevating customer satisfaction across the value chain.

Expanding India’s Energy Footprint and Infrastructure

Mr. Kumar reimagined retail outlets as comprehensive service hubs, energizing the last mile with an expanded footprint that now includes 126 POL locations, 101 bottling plants, and 130 aviation fuel stations. His strategic foresight contributed significantly to IndianOil’s global expansion and the creation of a resilient, future-ready energy infrastructure.

Leadership Beyond Marketing: Steadfast Stewardship in Crucial Times

Demonstrating versatility, Mr. Kumar also served as Acting Director (Finance) for a year and briefly as Chairman of IndianOil, guiding the company with clarity and calm during pivotal transitions. Known for his humility, swift decision-making, and data-driven approach, he earned widespread respect within the organization and the industry.
