Vadodara: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Sunday inaugurated several development projects and laid foundation stones for new works worth nearly ₹1,297 crore in Vadodara district.
The programme was held at Trimandir in Varnama, where projects implemented by different state departments and civic agencies were taken up.
Gambhira Bridge Among Key Projects
A major highlight of the programme was the inauguration of the new Gambhira-Mujpur bridge over the Mahi River, which connects Vadodara and Anand districts.
The replacement bridge was built after the earlier structure collapsed in July 2025. The new bridge was constructed within about a year, with the project cost reported at around ₹212 crore in detailed project reports.
Other projects inaugurated during the programme included the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Sankalp Bhoomi Memorial, constructed at a cost of around ₹28.59 crore. The memorial complex includes a museum, auditorium, library and multimedia and digital exhibition facilities.
A Zonal Observation Home for children was also dedicated. The facility, built at a cost of ₹8.35 crore, has a capacity for 50 children and includes facilities such as a computer laboratory, library, health services and yoga facilities.
Projects Across Multiple Departments
According to the project-wise figures reported from the programme:
- ₹676.68 crore worth of projects received foundation stones.
- Projects worth around ₹352 crore were inaugurated.
- Vadodara Municipal Corporation projects accounted for about ₹441.42 crore.
- Panchayat Department works were valued at around ₹408.87 crore.
- Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Ltd. (GETCO) projects accounted for about ₹106 crore.
- Other works were taken up by departments including Social Justice and Empowerment, Labour, Skill Development and Employment, Roads and Buildings, and Planning.
During the event, Patel also spoke about social welfare and social harmony, referring to government schemes including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Har Ghar Jal and Ayushman Bharat.
The Vadodara projects were inaugurated and launched as part of the state government’s ongoing development works across the district.
