From Graduate Trainee to Apex Leadership
Prasad began his journey with ONGC as a Graduate Trainee in Drilling Services. Over the years, he rose through the ranks to head drilling operations at the apex level. His career is widely regarded as a story of grit, growth, and leadership, inspiring many within the organization.
A technocrat with a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and advanced management credentials, Prasad worked extensively across onshore and offshore locations. His assignments spanned some of the toughest drilling basins in India, contributing significantly to ONGC’s operational success.
Driving Efficiency and Innovation in Drilling
As Executive Director, Prasad played a pivotal role in ensuring ONGC consistently achieved its annual drilling targets. He oversaw operations in both Western and Eastern offshore shallow waters, while championing new technologies, cost optimization, and HSE excellence.
He was instrumental in adopting innovative drilling practices such as Casing While Drilling (CWD), Logging While Drilling (LWD), and several system-driven efficiency improvements. His coordinated efforts with the Directorate General of Shipping enabled the implementation of MODU 89, which brought critical relief to India’s drilling industry.
