Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has sought a detailed report from Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad following an alleged altercation involving Vikas Marmat, a 2019-batch IAS officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, and Bengaluru police personnel at a pub. The Chief Minister has reportedly directed the Chief Secretary to examine the incident and submit a report on the officer’s conduct.
Marmat, a 2019-batch IAS officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, is currently serving as Project Director of the Kuppam Area Development Authority (KADA). The incident has drawn attention after Bengaluru police registered a criminal case against him and three other individuals over allegations of assaulting and abusing police personnel during a late-night inspection.
What Happened at the Bengaluru Pub?
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of October 10 at Cavore, a bar and restaurant on Residency Road in Bengaluru, within the jurisdiction of Cubbon Park police station.
According to the police complaint, a team from the Central Crime Branch (CCB) and other personnel visited bars and restaurants as part of a late-night checking drive ordered by Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh.

Cubbon Park police registered a case against Marmat and three others following a complaint filed by Police Inspector Arun Salunke, who is attached to the CCB’s Special Enquiry Wing.
The individuals named in the case are:
- Vikas Marmat: A 2019-batch IAS officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre and Project Director of KADA.

Chief Secretary Asked to Examine Officer’s Conduct
The Andhra Pradesh government’s response follows the registration of the case in Bengaluru. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has reportedly asked Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad (IAS: 1991: AP), to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident and submit a report.
The report is expected to provide the state government with details of the incident and the allegations concerning the officer’s conduct. Any further administrative action would depend on the government’s assessment and the findings available to it.
Investigation Underway
Bengaluru police are investigating the allegations against Marmat and the three other individuals. The case concerns an alleged confrontation during an official police inspection, with the complaint accusing the group of interfering with officers carrying out identity and age checks.
The matter has also prompted political criticism in Andhra Pradesh, with the YSR Congress Party calling on the Chief Minister to take responsibility for the alleged conduct of the officer. These are political reactions to the incident and do not determine the outcome of the police investigation.
