Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh: Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai paid tribute to the contributions of the tribal community during the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Birsa Munda at City Ground, Jagdalpur on Saturday. The event, held under the banner of Tribal Johar, saw the CM honoring tribal heroes and highlighting his government’s efforts for the overall development of the community.
CM Emphasizes Tribal Upliftment and Cultural Heritage
Chief Minister Sai inaugurated the program by offering prayers to Bastar’s revered goddess Maa Danteshwari and a photograph of Birsa Munda. He was felicitated with a traditional Sihadi garland, a turban, and an elephant garland, adding a ceremonial and cultural touch to the occasion.
Speaking at the event, the CM reiterated his government’s commitment to the overall development of tribal communities in Chhattisgarh, stressing the importance of preserving and promoting their culture. He encouraged youth and future generations to draw inspiration from the ancestral struggles and social reforms carried out by tribal leaders.
Tribals’ Role in Freedom Struggle Acknowledged
Jagdalpur MLA Kiran Dev highlighted the heroic contributions of tribal revolutionaries from Bastar, including martyrs Gundadhur, Debaridhur, and Gendsingh, who sacrificed their lives in the fight for independence and in protecting Bastar’s natural resources.
Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap urged young people to follow the ideals of these tribal leaders, emphasizing the need for sustainable development and preservation of tribal heritage.
CM Criticizes Opposition
Responding to questions from the media, Chief Minister Sai said the opposition has become a “fuse bulb,” struggling after repeated electoral defeats. He criticized their inconsistent stance, noting that they only question institutions like the Election Commission and EVMs when they lose elections. He assured that his government remains accountable and guided by the central government, with the tribal community offering its full support.
