Amidst huge administrative chaos and unrest following the horrendous tragedy at R G Kar Medical Hospital & College, the government of West Bengal has decided to promote 10 WBCS officers to the IAS. A notification in this regard was released by the Personnel Administration and Reforms (PAR) department. As per the rules, a WBCS officer becomes eligible for promotion to IAS after they complete eight years of service. Earlier, the maximum age limit for such promotion was 54 years which has lately been extended to 56 years.
The promotee IAS officers are:
- Mr. Krishna Kant Singh, the incumbent Special Secretary of the State Vigilance Commission;
- Mr. Amitabha Sengupta, Mr. Jitendra Roy and Mr. Anindya Sengupta who have been serving as Special Secretary in the State Home and Hill Affairs department;
- Mr. Anindya Kumar Kar, Special Secretary of the Backward Classes Welfare Department;
- Mr. Amit Dutta, Managing Director of Manjusha;
- Mr. Soumyajit Das, Special Secretary of the State Housing Department;
- Mr. Parna Chanda, Special Secretary of State Women and Child Welfare Department;
- Mr. Dipankar Mondal, OSD in Chief Minister’s Office;
- Ms. Mutiny Bandyopadhyay, Special Secretary in state Urban Development and Municipal.
