In a major administrative reshuffle, the West Bengal government has transferred 39 IAS officers, including K Radhika Aiyar, the district magistrate of Purba Bardhaman. The move comes amid criticism regarding the district administration’s handling of the recent flood crisis and the distribution of relief materials.
Ms. Aiyar, a 2011 batch IAS officer, has been reassigned to the Health and Family Welfare Department. Replacing her is Ayesha Rani, a 2009 batch officer who was previously serving as the Divisional Commissioner of Medinipur Range.
Additionally, the transfer list includes several other key officials from flood-affected regions. Sana Akhtar, the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Purba Bardhaman, has also been replaced, with Prateek Singh, former SDO of Canning, stepping into the role.
In Paschim Bardhaman, Subashini E has replaced Shiraz Daneswar as ADM, while Tamil Oviya S and Anuj Pratap Singh have been appointed as ADMs in Hooghly, succeeding Aditi Chaudhary and Kuhuk Bhishan. In Howrah, Divya Murugeshan will take over from Rishin Ismail as ADM.
