Western Coalfields Limited Appoints Sandeep S. Paranjpe as Director (Technical/Project & Planning)

Seasoned Mining Professional With Over 30 Years of Experience Takes Charge at WCL

Mumbai: Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) on Tuesday welcomed Mr. Sandeep S. Paranjpe, who assumed charge as Director (Technical/Project & Planning). He was formally received by Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande, Director (Human Resources), on behalf of the WCL management.

Senior officials and departmental heads extended their greetings and best wishes to Mr. Paranjpe on his joining.

Over Three Decades of Expertise in Coal Mining

Mr. Sandeep S. Paranjpe is a seasoned mining professional with more than 30 years of experience in the coal mining sector. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering from Mr. Ramdeobaba Kamla Nehru Engineering College, Nagpur University, completed in 1991.

His extensive career spans both underground and opencast mining operations, making him a valuable addition to WCL’s leadership team.

Strong Background in Underground Mining and Project Management

During his career, Mr. Paranjpe has accumulated 16 years of hands-on underground mining experience at Pathakheda and Saoner. His expertise covers several critical domains, including:

  • Mine planning and production
  • Project implementation
  • Land acquisition and management
  • Coal quality management
  • Mine closure planning

These competencies are expected to play a key role in strengthening WCL’s technical and project execution capabilities.

Key Roles at SECL Before Joining WCL

Before his appointment at WCL, Mr. Paranjpe served as Regional General Manager, Sohagpur Area, at South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL). He later worked as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the CMD, SECL, where he contributed significantly to strategic planning and operational decision-making.

All departmental heads and officers of WCL welcomed Mr. Paranjpe and expressed confidence that his leadership and technical expertise would help the organisation achieve new milestones in project planning and coal production.
