West Bengal: 6 IAS & 1 IPS Officer Transferred, Rajesh Kumar Made Principal Secy, Correctional Administration Dept

In a significant administrative reshuffle, the West Bengal government has announced the transfer of six IAS officers and one IPS officer to new postings. The changes, which were implemented on Wednesday, mark a major restructuring within key departments of the state government.

The officers affected by the reshuffle are:

  1. Roshni Sen (IAS: 1993: WB): Formerly the Additional Chief Secretary of the Fisheries, Aquaculture, Aquatic Resources and Fishing Harbour Development Department, Roshni Sen has been assigned additional responsibilities. She will now also serve as the Additional Chief Secretary of the Environment Department.
  2. Dr. Rajesh Kumar (IPS: 1990: WB): Dr. Kumar, who previously held the position of Principal Secretary of the Environment Department with additional duties as Member Secretary of the Pollution Control Board, has now been transferred to the role of Principal Secretary of the Correctional Administration Department.
  3. Jagdish Prasad Meena (IAS: 2004: WB): Meena, who was serving as the Secretary of the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, with additional charges of Secretary for the Correctional Administration Department and Divisional Commissioner of the Presidency Division, has now been posted as Secretary of the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms. Additionally, he will take on the role of Member Secretary of the Pollution Control Board and Divisional Commissioner, Presidency Division.
  4. Yeluchuri Ratnakara Rao (IAS: 2006: WB): Rao, who was the Secretary in the Health & Family Welfare Department, has now been moved to the Non-Conventional & Renewable Energy Sources Department as its new Secretary.
  5. Shashank Sethi (IAS: 2010: WB): Formerly the Managing Director of the West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation Limited, Sethi has been transferred to the role of Managing Director of the West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBHIDCO).
  6. Abhishek Kumar Tiwari (IAS: 2012: WB): Tiwari, previously the Special Secretary in the Health & Family Welfare Department, will now take over as Managing Director of the West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation Limited, with an additional charge of Director of Tourism.
  7. Vivek Kumar (IAS: 2016: WB): Kumar, who was serving as the Joint Secretary of the Agriculture Department, has been appointed to the Health & Family Welfare Department in an undisclosed capacity.

These administrative changes are seen as part of the West Bengal government’s ongoing efforts to enhance governance efficiency and streamline departmental functions across the state.
