In a rare instance, 2011-batch IAS officers and husband-wife S Arun Prasad and K Radhika Aiyar interchanged offices in recent government postings on Wednesday.
K Radhika Aiyar took over the charge as District Magistrate, Bankura, West Bengal from her husband and her husband took charge as GST special commissioner, Durgapur, a post held by his wife till now.
Talking to the media after taking charge as DM, Aiyar said her priority was to ensure peace in the district and reach out to people in need.
The government order, asking Prasad to take charge as GST special commissioner, was issued simultaneously as Aiyar was appointed Bankura DM. In addition, separate orders were issued making her the executive magistrate of the district as well as the district collector.
Interestingly, the IAS couple has shared synchronous assignments in the past too. In March 2020, Prasad was made Bankura DM while Aiyar was appointed GST special commissioner in June the same year.
