In a major administrative reshuffle in the state police, four IPS officers, one WBPS officer and 27 Inspectors have been transferred across various posts in West Bengal.
According to an order issued by the Police Service Cell of the Home and Hill Affairs Department, C. Sudhakar, who was serving as the Commissioner of Police (CP) of Siliguri Police Commissionerate, has been appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP), Intelligence Branch (IB), North Bengal.
Syed Waquar Raza, who was posted as Deputy Inspector General (DIG), will take charge as the new Commissioner of Police of Siliguri Police Commissionerate.
Among the other key changes, Bholanath Pandey, who was functioning as Deputy Commissioner of the South East Division in Kolkata in the rank of Joint CP, has been posted as DIG of Jalpaiguri Range. He will be replaced by Surya Pratap Yadav, who was serving as the Commandant of the RAF battalion in Durgapur.
In another posting, Santi Das, a WBPS officer who was working as Additional SP in the State Human Rights Commission and was also deputed as ADC to the Governor of West Bengal, has been appointed Deputy Commandant in the State Armed Police, 2nd Battalion.
Apart from these senior-level changes, 27 Inspectors serving as police station in-charges, Circle Inspectors and officers in other units were also transferred on Sunday. The reshuffle comes just ahead of the expected announcement of the Assembly election schedule.
