The Tamil Nadu government has appointed B. Bala Naga Devi, a 1995-batch IPS officer, as the new Director General of Police (DGP), Intelligence.
Before taking up this role, Bala Naga Devi was serving as DGP of the Economic Offences Wing CID. She had been elevated to the rank of DGP in December and was also holding additional responsibility as DGP of Civil Supplies CID.
Over the course of her career, she has held several demanding assignments. One of her notable postings was leading the state’s commando force, where she oversaw specialised operations and training. During that period, she also successfully managed the All India Police Firing Competition held at Umancheri.
Originally from Lakdikapul, Bala Naga Devi completed her B.Tech before joining the police service.
Following her transfer, Santhosh Kumar, currently an Inspector General of Police, has been given charge of heading the Economic Offences Wing CID. Meanwhile, Rupesh Kumar Meena, also an Inspector General of Police, will take over the leadership of the Civil Supplies CID.
