IPS Kamble Sharan Gopinath received the honour for his impactful work while serving as ACP in Sanchore, a border area of Jalore district adjoining Gujarat. During his tenure, he spearheaded a comprehensive de-addiction campaign, combining strict law enforcement with community awareness initiatives.
Crackdown on Drug Traffickers and Social Awareness
As part of the campaign, Kamble led special police operations to apprehend drug traffickers, including action against organised narcotics networks. He also worked extensively to discourage the social practice of offering opium and poppy pods at weddings and other gatherings, a long-standing custom in some regions.
His dual approach of enforcement and awareness earned him appreciation from both senior officials and the local community.

Originally from Maharashtra, Kamble Sharan Gopinath is an IPS officer of the 2021 batch belonging to the Rajasthan cadre. Growing up in a poverty-stricken household, Kamble lived in a home without electricity and studied under a lantern. For his higher secondary education (Classes 11 and 12), he walked 12 kilometres daily to attend school in a neighbouring village.
