1989 batch IPS officer of Rajasthan cadre, Ms. Nina Singh, has become the first woman Chief of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). She was serving as the Special DG of CISF.
On 28 Dec, 2022, she was appointed as the New Director General (DG) of CISF, which provides security cover to the Delhi Metro and Airports across the country.
Ms. Singh has been with the CISF since 2021 and will remain at the helm till her retirement on July 31 next year. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Singh’s appointment as DG, CISF up to July 31, 2024.
She is also the first woman officer of DG rank in Rajasthan. She held some important posts from Rajasthan to the Centre.
She served as the ADG (Training) and DG, Civil Rights & Anti-Human Trafficking in Rajasthan. She has also been part of Rajasthan State Commission for Women. During the pandemic, Ms. Singh took over the responsibility of Principal Secretary (Health) in Rajasthan.
She has also served as the Joint-Director of CBI in New Delhi and played key role in investigation of PNB scam and Nirav Modi case.
Ms. Singh originally hails from Bihar. She studied at the Patna Women’s College and the Jawaharlal Nehru University. She also holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University.
She has been actively involved in police reforms. She also has a special interest in writing. She has also co-authored 2 research papers with Noble prize winners in Economics, Abhijit Banerjee and Esther Duflo.
For her contribution in policing, she was awarded with Ati Utkrisht Seva Medal (AUSM) by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Her husband Rohit Kumar Singh is an IAS officer of 1989 batch, Rajasthan cadre. He is currently on deputation and posted as the Secretary of Union Consumer Affairs ministry.
