Japan: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s four-day visit to Singapore and Japan has been hailed as “unprecedentedly successful” in boosting investments, technology partnerships, and global collaborations, according to a statement from the state government.
During the visit, Adityanath signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 1.5 lakh crore and received investment proposals totaling Rs 2.5 lakh crore, marking a decisive step toward achieving Uttar Pradesh’s target of becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2029-30. Business leaders reportedly described the state as a “dream destination” for investment.

Key Investments and Agreements in Japan
In Japan, the Chief Minister signed MoUs with major firms, including:
- Kubota Corporation
- Spark Minda (in collaboration with Toyo Denso)
- Japan Aviation Electronics Industry
- Nagase & Co
Business-to-government meetings also included leading companies such as Suzuki Motor Corporation, Honda Cars India Ltd, Mitsui & Co Ltd, Marubeni Corporation, Sumitomo Realty & Development, Rapidus Corporation, Konoike Transport Co Ltd, and MUFG Bank.
The proposed investments target key sectors, including:
- Agricultural machinery
- Automobile OEM and components
- Auto R&D
- Semiconductors and data centres
- Green hydrogen and power-to-gas solutions
- Compressed bio-gas
- Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM)
- Logistics and warehousing
A Green Hydrogen Centre of Excellence will be established in collaboration with University of Yamanashi, Yamanashi Hydrogen Company, IIT Kanpur, Harcourt Butler Technical University, IIT BHU, and Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology.
In addition, a dedicated “Japan City” will be developed over 500 acres in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority area to provide a specialized industrial ecosystem for Japanese companies. Dedicated auto clusters and R&D facilities for OEMs and component manufacturers are also planned.
Technological and Transport Collaboration
During his visit, Adityanath explored advanced transport technologies by inspecting the L0 Series Maglev train station and traveling on a high-speed train. He also visited the industrial robotics and factory automation plant of FANUC Corporation, which expressed interest in supporting technological upgrades in Uttar Pradesh’s MSME sector.
The Chief Minister announced plans for skill development initiatives aligned with Japanese industry requirements, including language and technical training, to prepare local talent for global opportunities.
Tourism and Cultural Partnerships
Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in tourism, linking Uttar Pradesh’s Buddhist Circuit and Ramayana Circuit to boost spiritual, cultural, and heritage tourism. This partnership is expected to create new opportunities in hospitality, infrastructure, and services.
Singapore Visit: Focus on Aviation, Logistics, and Fintech
In Singapore, wide-ranging discussions focused on:
- MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) hubs
- Cargo and logistics hubs
- Semiconductors and data centres
- Skill development and fintech collaborations
Adityanath met top Singaporean leadership, including the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister, to enhance industrial, technological, and infrastructure cooperation. Plans were discussed for Noida International Airport at Jewar to develop it as an MRO and cargo hub.
Global Confidence in Uttar Pradesh
The outcomes of the visit reflect growing global confidence in Uttar Pradesh, attributed to its transparent policies, improved law and order, and robust infrastructure. The agreements and proposals secured are expected to significantly accelerate the state’s journey toward a one-trillion-dollar economy, creating employment opportunities, modern industrial ecosystems, and enhanced technological capabilities.
