Lucknow: On the occasion of Farmer’s Day, marking the 123rd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Chaudhary Charan Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath participated in a programme in Lucknow to honour farmers and recognise their contribution to the agriculture sector. The event highlighted the government’s focus on farmer welfare, modernisation of agriculture, and promotion of self-reliance in farming.
Tractors Distributed to Farmers
As part of the Chief Minister Krishak Uphaar Yojana, CM Yogi handed over keys of five tractors to selected farmers and flagged off 25 additional tractors, connecting farmers with modern agricultural resources to enhance productivity.
The farmers who received tractor keys include:
- Praveshika from Jalaun
- Udham Singh from Shahjahanpur
- Mukesh from Fatehpur
- Shripal from Muzaffarnagar
- Jamaif Khan from Lakhimpur Kheri
The initiative is aimed at empowering farmers with machinery that can improve efficiency and reduce manual labour.

Awards for Outstanding Farmers
During the event, farmers achieving excellence in various crops were recognised and awarded ₹1 lakh, certificates, and ceremonial attire:
- Kamalnath: Paddy production
- Bijendra Kumar Singh: Wheat production
- Ashish Tiwari: Chickpea production
- Ramkishun: Pea production
- Hiralal: Mustard production
- Randhir Singh: Arhar production
- Amresh Kumar: Jowar production
Special Recognition for Women Farmers and FPOs
The programme also honoured exceptional women farmers and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs):
- Outstanding Woman Farmer Award: Sandhya Singh (₹75,000, certificate and ceremonial attire)
- FPO Awards:
- Vikas Kumar Singh, Jaya Seeds Company Ltd., Varanasi (₹1 lakh, certificate and attire)
- Kuldeep Mishra, Gonda, recognised for maximum seed supply under the Seed Development Corporation
- Vikas Kumar Singh, Jaya Seeds Company Ltd., Varanasi (₹1 lakh, certificate and attire)
Awards for Agricultural Innovation and Research
Farmers and scientists contributing to agricultural innovation and research were also recognised:
- Horticulture Award: Vikas Kumar Singh (₹1 lakh, certificate and attire)
- Agricultural Scientist Award: Dr. Dheeraj Kumar Tiwari, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Unnao
Government Focus on Farmer Welfare
CM Yogi Adityanath emphasised that the Yogi government has increased the agricultural growth rate in Uttar Pradesh to 18% over the past eight years. He reiterated that all government schemes are being implemented with priority for farmers. Through initiatives like Farmer’s Day celebrations and Krishak Uphaar Yojana, the government aims to enhance farmers’ income, provide access to modern resources, and make agriculture self-reliant, in line with the farmer-friendly vision of Chaudhary Charan Singh.
