Outgoing DC Anjaneyulu Dodde won the hearts of people when he touched the feet of his office peon while handing over charge to incumbent Shashi Ranjan on Friday. Mr. Dodde has been transferred to Dumka in the same capacity and he is being replaced by the former Khunti DC.
Soon after handing over charge to Mr. Ranjan, Mr. Dodde offered peon Nandial, 48, the shawl gifted to him during his farewell and touched his feet. Mr. Dodde said. “My father was a peon too.”
A confused Nandlal was at a loss for words at Mr. Dodde’s gesture in the presence of the new DC. When it was the turn of the other peon Videsh Paswan, Mr. Dodde hugged him warmly. The officer made a similar gesture to Peon Dilip. All three – Nandlal, Videsh and Dilip – also touched the feet of the DC and the small gathering became emotional.
Mr. Dodde said, “They are at the receiving end during the office procedures but they deliver to the best of their ability.”
