In a quiet corner of Tripura, a small environmental leap has been taken that will cause big impacts. IFS officer Prasada Rao has eliminated plastic from the ubiquitous jhhadu (broom) handles and replaced them with eco-friendly bamboo alternatives.
On World Bamboo Day, IFS officer Prasada Rao took to X and and shared the bamboo handled broom video designed by local bamboo artisans.
In his tweet, he wrote, “Tripura is glad to share that, local Bamboo Artisans have designed an eco friendly bamboo broom handle with refill system, as a sustainable alternative to plastic handles, to prevent 40,000 MT plastic adding to land fills, every year in India, on this world Bamboo day. Pls promote.”
