Senior Indian Forest Service officer Dr. P M Dhakate has shared a video of a rhino mother protecting her calf furiously from two adult elephants. The officer, who is currently posted as Chief Conservator of Forests in Uttarakhand, wrote about the “incredible display of parental courage”, while posting the video on X.
The video shows the moments when a rhino mother and her calf come across two elephants on their path. In order to protect her calf, the mother rhino charges at the elephant in the front, refusing to budge or give away until both the elephants decided to move away from the spot and leave the rhino mother-child duo on their own.
While mentioning the “indomitable spirit of parenthood”, the officer also reminded us that “a parent’s love knows no bounds”. Watch the video here:
