Indian Masterminds Stories

Pilibhit/Lucknow: A heartwarming and inspiring interaction unfolded at the Pilibhit Collectorate when students from a government school met District Magistrate Gyanendra Singh, an IAS officer of 2014 batch. During the visit, a young student’s question – “Sir, I want to become a DM. How should I study?” – not only won hearts but also led to a motivating session on goal-setting and disciplined preparation for civil services.

Educational Visit to Collectorate

As part of an educational excursion, students from the Composite School in Barha (Lalauri Khera Block) visited the Collectorate to understand administrative functioning.

Their teacher, Santosh Khare, introduced them to the significance of the building, explaining that it serves as the office of the District Magistrate. This sparked curiosity and excitement among the students, who were eager to witness governance up close.

Student’s Question Wins Hearts

During the interaction, student Sonali expressed her aspiration to become a District Magistrate and asked how she should prepare.

Smiling at her confidence, DM Gyanendra Singh responded with simple yet powerful advice:
“First, set a clear goal that you want to join the Civil Services. Then, dedicate fixed study hours every day to achieve it.”

Another student, Sanjana, also asked about the steps required to become a Collector, while others inquired about the DM’s educational journey.

DM Shares Success Mantra

Encouraging the students, the District Magistrate emphasized that success begins with clarity of purpose.

  • Set a clear goal early
  • Create and follow a disciplined study timetable
  • Seek continuous guidance from teachers
  • Work consistently towards your dream

He also highlighted that each student has unique aspirations and should choose their path accordingly – whether in civil services, medicine, engineering, teaching, or law.

Focus on Discipline and Routine

The DM stressed the importance of maintaining a structured daily routine and adhering to it with dedication.

“If you decide your goal today and start preparing mentally, you are already on the right path,” he told the students, inspiring them to take their ambitions seriously from an early stage.

Exposure to Modern Education Initiatives

During the visit, teacher Santosh Khare informed the District Magistrate about ongoing developments at the school, including the establishment of a drone laboratory.

This initiative aims to introduce rural students – especially girls – to advanced technology and modern learning tools, helping bridge the digital divide.

A Memorable Interaction

The interaction turned into a memorable experience for the students as the DM warmly welcomed them into his office, offered sweets and chocolates, and personally engaged with their questions.

His approachable and encouraging demeanor left a lasting impression, boosting the confidence and aspirations of the young visitors.

Request for School Expansion

Teacher Santosh Khare also raised a request for allocation of vacant land behind the school campus, citing the growing number of students.

Responding positively, the District Magistrate assured that appropriate action would be taken on the matter.

Inspiring Exchange

The visit not only gave students a glimpse into administrative functioning but also ignited dreams of public service. The inspiring exchange with the District Magistrate has left them more motivated than ever to work hard and achieve their goals.
